New research finds that cyber crime attacks on American companies have increased 44 percent since last year.
According to “The Second Annual Cost of Cyber Crime Study,” conducted by the Michigan-based Ponemon Institute, for the 50 companies who responded the survey, the median annual cost of dealing with the effects of cyber crime was $5.9 million, with an average of 1.4 successful cyber attacks per week on each company.
The Ponemon Institute specializes in research regarding privacy and data security. The report was funded by ArcSight, an HP company.
