Alpert is a leading expert in high-risk police activities, including the use of force, pursuit driving and racial profiling. He is conducting research on police use of Tasers for the National Institute of Justice and has completed a national National Institutes of Health funded studies on police pursuit driving and use of force. His publications include Understanding Police Use of Force, Officers, Suspects and Reciprocity, Police Vehicles and Firearms: Instruments of Deadly Force, and Pursuit Driving: What We Know.
