A new Americas Society policy brief highlights five corporate efforts that researchers say are creating safer communities in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

The brief examines efforts to reinsert former gang members into the labor market and business initiatives that provide opportunities for at-risk youth.

At one company’s El Salvador plant, 5 percent of the employees (90 people) are former gang members. The company, Grupo Salvo, also facilitates employment opportunities with suppliers for an additional 100 former gang members.
