Female victims of domestic violence are more likely to report incidents when screened using an audio, computer-assisted self-interview than with healthcare providers, found a new study.
The women surveyed were predominantly black and in their mid 30s. More than half lacked insurance and another third had public insurance in the study published in Women’s Health Issues.
Currently most women are screened for domestic violence incidents by their primary health provider. As a result of this survey, researchers urged further study to create safer reporting spaces for women.
