Survey Finds Only Small Plurality Support for Obama Gun-Law Plan

January 23, 2013 06:31:32 am

Only 39 percent of people surveyed by Pew Research said President Obama's gun proposals are "about right," Politico reports. Thirty-one percent believe the president has gone too far with his plan, which includes universal background checks, a ban on high-capacity magazines, and tougher laws on gun trafficking.

Only 13 percent say he hasn't gone far enough. Support varied along party lines, with more than half of Republicans saying the proposals go to far and more than half of Democrats say they are just right. Of independents, 33 percent say Obama has gone too far and 36 percent say he has it right.
