The ONDCP, established in 1988, is the chief White House policy agency in the war on drugs. According to its own website, “The principal purpose of ONDCP is to establish policies, priorities, and objectives for the Nation's drug control program. The goals of the program are to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing, and trafficking, drug-related crime and violence, and drug-related health consequences.”  ONDCP has asked for around $412 million for FY 2009 as part of an overall federal drug enforcement budget request of $14.1 billion to fight the drug war.

ONDCP’s website, http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/index.html, maintains a blog with information on drug enforcement and related topics.  It also has links to the current National Drug Control Strategy Budget Summary and other publications that contain excellent background information on drug enforcement and interdiction operations, substance abuse control efforts and related topics.
