The Justice Department's criminal division is likely to be devoting more efforts to international organized crime, its chief, Lanny Breuer, tells MainJustice.com. The department now runs an International Organized Crime Intelligence and Operations Center, known as IOC-2.
Breuer says Justice may reorganize its Organized Crime and Racketeering Section] "combining it with our Gang Unit and making one very large violent crime section." He adds: "At the end of the day, we want to do what will result in the most efficient, effective use of our resources."
