Col. Dean Esserman is the Chief of Police of the City of Providence.He is adviser to the International Association of Chiefs of Police Aug 2008 report on recommendations to the next President. Colonel Esserman was Chief of Police in Stamford, Connecticut, from 1998 to 2003, where he brought his nationally renowned philosophy of community oriented policing and cut crime by 50%. While in Stamford, he introduced many innovations and developed a national reputation as a police leader.
