Capital Punishment: Who, What, When, Where, How

12.3.09deathThe Bureau of Justice Statistics has just released statistics on capital punishment in 2008. According to the report, 37 prisoners were executed in 2008—36 by lethal injection and one by electrocution. All those executed were men; 20 were white, 17 black. The report features numerous statistical tables with information including which states have capital statutes and the demographics of prisoners under death sentence.
